Un groupe alimentaire français choisit BOARD comme solution EPM

I – CONTEXT

A major French food group wanted a tool to better understand how its business was evolving. The objective was to improve performance management and carry out internal benchmarking.

The implementation of this project was part of an overall context of change and transformation of the finance function, with the following challenges:

  • Optimisation of processes and tools
    • Inventory of information
    • Standardisation and convergence of reference data
    • Digitisation and automation of part of the tasks
    • Harmonisation of reporting and creation of dashboards
    • Reduced production lead times and improved information quality
    • Faster integration of new acquisitions
  • Better risk control
    • Implementation of automated controls
    •  Sharing of best practices
    • Risk identification

II – IMPLEMENTATION

The situation at the start of the project was as follows:

  • The data sources for group reporting were multiple.
  • The priority analyses of contribution margin were produced from a heavy BI platform that was being upgraded, but it did not deliver satisfactory results.
  • Management reporting was mainly produced in Excel. Statutory consolidation reporting was produced in parallel using the group’s FCRS consolidation tool.
  • Regular reconciliations were carried out between the two to ensure overall consistency of the reporting produced by the two departments.

In this context, the French food group launched a project to implement an EPM tool—initially to improve the production of financial and management analyses.

It also wanted to choose a product that could support the group’s medium-term needs, with successive deployment phases enabling it to address all its five-year transformation challenges.

Before addressing the Group’s overall performance management, two priority needs were identified: detailed analysis of standard contribution margin and monitoring of industrial investments.

    III – RESULTS

Regarding the actions carried out, there were four people on the BOARD teams’ side, responsible for integration, and two people on the SQL Server database side from the agri-food group’s teams.

The Live project was delivered in 6 months and enabled the client to complete a budget cycle.
