What’s new in S/4HANA Cloud for February 2022?

With each Release, SAP brings innovation to S/4HANA Cloud. What are the interesting new features for February 2022? We invite you to discover our selection of key highlights from Release 2202 in this article.

1. FINANCE

• New advanced valuation processes available to accountants, schedulable in the General Ledger Work Scheduling tile:
  • Post Balance Sheet Reclassification
  • Advanced Foreign Currency Valuation
    • Replaces the functionalities: foreign currency valuation, Receivables/Payables Reconciliation, and Perform Other Valuations
  • Post Discounting of Long-Term Assets and Liabilities
    • According to IFRS 9, 15, and 16 standards
  • Post Impairment Based on Credit Risk
    • IFRS 9 Expected Credit Losses (ECL) requirement

• New clearing processes between customer and supplier open items in the Post Customer Receipts and Post Disbursements tiles

2. SUPPLY CHAIN

• Integration point between warehouse management (EWM) and maintenance (PM) to link a maintenance component reservation with its storage location and staging area
  • Applicable for planned or manual service orders

3. MANUFACTURING

• 10 new production planning strategies available
• Strategy selection assistance for a product via an interactive questionnaire
  • Successive answer selections refine the choice of the most suitable strategy for the need
• Quality Management: new Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) functionality to anticipate and detect potential failures or risk areas on products or processes
  • 3 new Apps, administration and display via diagrams

4. SALES

• Management of multiple addresses for the same business partner
  • Usable in all sales documents: orders, goods issues, invoices
  • Validity date management
• New functionality to create delivery schedules from an Excel workbook
  • The Import Sales Documents tile now includes the option to import a delivery schedule
  • Template available for download
• New functionalities for solution sales
  • Ability to sell services
    • New item type
    • Integrated into existing flow
    • Can be combined with products and subscriptions
    • Does not require goods issue
  • Ability to manage returns
    • Creation of a customer return from a solution sales invoice
    • 3 managed scenarios: return to seller for inspection, return to supplier for inspection, inspection at customer site
  • Ability to manage customer partner roles in a subscription
    • Bill-to party, ship-to party, payer

5. PURCHASING

• New scenarios for the optimized Direct Materials procurement flow
  • Strategic product procurement and demand-based procurement
  • Update targeting automotive and industrial sectors
• New add-on to the SAP Central Invoice Management solution on the BTP to manage invoice integration
  • Activatable from FIORI
  • Integrated OCR
  • Approval workflow management
• International trade compliance verification in purchase requisitions
  • Blocking in case of non-compliance
  • Controls: embargo (countries), legal controls (products), SAP watch list (business partners)
  • Not applicable to self-service orders (employees)
  • Integrated with SAP Global Trade Services
  • Use of approval workflows to unblock

6. PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

• New functionalities to manage customer project billing
  • Ability to create specific fields (in-app extensibility) usable throughout the process, from time entries to invoice generation
  • Ability to bill projects in “Completed” status. Time entries remain prohibited but expense entries and customer invoices remain possible
• Improved user experience for:
  • Additional filters in resource search to assign to a customer project: service organization, company, cost center, service cost level
  • Display of most recent work packages, roles, and resources first
• New API to manage resource requests with a third-party tool
