What’s new in SAP Analytics Cloud Q2 2025
With the return of warmer days, SAP Analytics Cloud has some great surprises in store for you. The second update of 2025 brings a host of innovations to improve the user experience, strengthen data analysis and boost efficiency.
Discover the 5 flagship features of this new version, which will enable you to get even more value from your data, whether in story creation, visual exploration or collaboration.
1. Joule: Natural-language analytical insights in SAC
SAP is enhancing the analytics experience in SAC by integrating Joule, its intelligent assistant, combined with Just Ask technology. This new feature marks a turning point in how users interact with data: it is now possible to ask analytical questions in natural language, directly from the SAP Analytics Cloud interface, and receive clear answers without complex manipulation.
In practical terms, this integration allows users to query their data models simply by typing a question. Just Ask interprets the request, identifies the available models and returns a chart or visualization in response. This paves the way for more intuitive, more direct analytics, accessible even to non-technical profiles.
The feature goes beyond simply asking a question in natural language. Users can choose the data model to query, refine a question (via filters or breakdowns), and work with both SAC models and SAP Datasphere, if the latter are integrated into an SAP Business Data Cloud infrastructure.
This evolution paves the way for a new way of interacting with data: more natural, smoother and perfectly integrated into the working environment. By facilitating access to information through language, SAP improves the analytics experience and enables faster, clearer and more efficient day-to-day data exploration.
2. Smart Insight
Smart Insights has always been one of SAP Analytics Cloud’s popular features, and it is becoming even more accessible! It is now available in Optimized Stories, including with sources such as SAP Datasphere or SAP HANA Live models.
This feature enables quick data exploration by automatically generating relevant explanations for a selected point or chart. Thanks to artificial intelligence, Smart Insights identifies the main influencing factors and presents the results as text or visualizations, which users can copy and paste into their story if they prove relevant.
3. Data analyzer: pin insights to a story
SAC’s ad hoc analysis tool, Data Analyzer, is evolving! Until now, it allowed users to quickly explore data from SAC models, BEx queries or SAP HANA views.
From now on, Data Analyzer allows you to save and pin the insight created to a story. You can therefore continue to use Data Analyzer to analyze your data, but when saving your insight, you can choose to pin it to your story for easier access!
4. New live connection to Google BigQuery
SAP Analytics Cloud now offers a live connection to Google BigQuery, enabling real-time data queries without replicating the data in SAC.
When creating a model, users can choose between an import connection or a live connection, which reads data directly from the source without storing it. This ensures immediate access to data that is always up to date.
Historically, the live connection was exclusively reserved for SAP sources. This release marks an important opening to non-SAP sources, such as Google BigQuery, thereby strengthening the platform’s interoperability.
5. Multi Actions: PaPM step Story
A new step is available in Multi Actions, allowing you to call a PaPM process. Once the step has been added, simply enter the environment, template and activity, fill in the PaPM parameters, and the Multi Action step is complete.
