Anticipating the end of SAP BFC: Econocom secures its EPM transition with MeltOne
Paris, March 2026 – As the planned discontinuation of SAP BFC by 2030 is prompting many groups to reflect on the future of their financial consolidation tools, Econocom has chosen to anticipate this deadline. The group has launched a structuring project aimed at modernising its EPM set-up, while securing consolidation processes that are already mature and widely adopted by the teams. To carry out this transition, Econocom relied on MeltOne, an international consulting and integration firm that supports companies in their digital transformation.
Replacing SAP BFC without disruption for teams
At Econocom, SAP BFC provided a robust, proven foundation, fully integrated into the group’s consolidation practices. However, the announced end of the software and the need to standardise the data collection and reporting process pushed Econocom to find a new high-performance tool with no loss of functionality, in a context of tighter regulatory requirements (Pillar 2 Two and ESG) and growing reporting needs.
Launched in late 2023, the project was structured progressively to secure each stage. The initial work focused on management issues before addressing the central task of financial consolidation. This approach made it possible to phase the transition over time, prepare the teams, and lay the groundwork for greater convergence between management and consolidation
The choice of Tagetik fits within this logic. Following a rigorous scoping phase, the solution stood out for its ability to bring together, within a single environment, statutory consolidation and performance management, while offering the functionalities expected by the teams, notably in terms of workflow and visibility over close processes.
“By replacing BFC with Tagetik, our organisation has equipped itself with a unified platform, supporting more efficient consolidation and stronger financial steering. MeltOne’s support was a key success factor, securing each stage of the project and fostering team buy-in, within a rigorous, results-oriented methodological framework,”.
User support and training to ensure continuity
Beyond the implementation of Tagetik, MeltOne supported Econocom with an approach focused on usage and team adoption. The challenge was to preserve existing reference points while introducing new practices that are more structured and clearer for end users.
Training sessions were organised on site to enable Finance teams to quickly project themselves into the new environment. Two phases of parallel running with SAP BFC were then put in place to compare results, adjust settings, and secure the final switch to Tagetik. The first close carried out without SAP BFC, in autumn 2025, was thus conducted under controlled conditions.
Initial user feedback highlights Tagetik’s smooth navigation, a beneficial contribution to structuring close activities, and better visibility into process progress. This evolution is part of a broader market trend, as many groups anticipate the end of SAP BFC and launch similar projects to modernise their EPM.
“The scheduled end of SAP BFC is now prompting many groups to ask the right questions. The challenge of our support with Econocom was not just to change tools, but to secure a complex transition while respecting existing practices and supporting the teams over the long term.”
