An industrial EPM platform:
Closings, budgets, forecasts, benchmarks.

BPCE accounts for 25% of the financing market in France. For the past ten years, the group has been building its answer with Anaplan and MeltOne.
This feedback comes from a round table organised with Anaplan (BPCE: managing performance in a mutual group, Anaplan Connect Paris). Two speakers share their experience: Christophe Lebrun (Anaplan platform manager, BPCE SA) and Benjamin Lambert (network monitoring product owner).
BPCE has 36 million customers and nearly 110,000 employees. The group has a gross banking income of 26 billion euros and a net income of 4 billion euros.
The group relies on autonomous entities with different frameworks and cultures. Managing performance therefore requires reconciling several imperatives.
In short, a decentralised group must still speak with one voice.
The choice of Anaplan dates back to the project’s inception, around ten years ago. The CFOs unanimously approved this cloud-native solution to unify the group’s performance management.
The target architecture is based on three levels: the local IT systems of the Banques Populaires and Caisses d’Épargne, an exchange zone that ensures the quality of group data, then Anaplan, which consumes it and hosts the performance management models.
The setup now includes around twenty models: closings, forecast landings, multi-year budgets, network costs, loan profitability, benchmarks. Around 1,000 users contribute to it.
The project addresses two logics. The central body must consolidate reliable data for its governing bodies. The regional networks, meanwhile, need tools to manage their own performance.
Anaplan thus addresses both levels: at the centre, consolidation and budget management; locally, pre-filled data, benchmarks, simulation. Regular workshops with management controllers continuously improve the tools. The objective: for each entity to see it as a performance management lever, not just group reporting.
The platform’s scalability was tested during the group’s latest acquisitions. BPCE Equipment Solution, a leasing specialist, joined Anaplan in 2024 with MeltOne. Three stages structured this project: harmonising processes and reference frameworks, configuring then maintaining the models, and supporting the teams.
The integration timeline was considered short, notably thanks to the solution’s user-friendly interface. The project was carried out progressively, with several pilot entities, then extended to the entire scope. This approach secured business rules, data quality and adoption of the tool.
As part of the integration of this new entity onto the Anaplan platform, MeltOne jointly mobilises its consulting and EPM integration expertise. Alongside the Anaplan integration team, our business experts from the consulting practice work across the entire project cycle and provide the daily interface between business teams and technical consultants, to ensure requirements are properly aligned with the platform’s capabilities.
The support covers the following activities in particular:
This complementarity between consulting and integration illustrates MeltOne’s differentiating positioning: offering clients a single point of contact and end-to-end support, from defining and formalising business requirements through to deploying the solution and its adoption by users.
On this type of project, the challenge is not limited to implementing a new tool. Processes, business rules and the needs of both the central body and the entities must be aligned. Our role was to create this day-to-day link, from design to testing, to secure the go-live and enable teams to take ownership of the new model.
After six years of joint deployment, the assessment is clear:
“For BPCE ES’s management control team, integrating Anaplan represents real added value. Whether for the monthly close or budget preparation, where timelines are often tight, the tool helps optimise certain processes, generating time and productivity gains. It also enables teams to focus more on analysis and higher value-added activities.”

It is the set of processes that measure and manage financial results. The group is thus made up of autonomous entities. It relies on reliable data, consolidation tools and simulation mechanisms.
Anaplan is a cloud-native platform designed for complex and decentralised environments. It enables connected management models that are accessible to business users, without heavy dependence on IT.
Integration generally follows three steps: harmonising reference frameworks, configuring existing models, and supporting the teams. At BPCE, an entity can thus become operational in under 4 months in the EPM tool.
It guarantees the reliability and traceability of financial information. This is indeed the condition for models to produce usable and auditable results.
It helps automate repetitive tasks, such as reporting. In addition, it enhances predictive analysis. This does, however, require a solid, historised database.
