A reduced workload
Before Pigment, the application landscape was siloed: one process, one tool, one administration team. Today, everything is integrated into a single tool, internally named Link, administered by the Reporting Factory.
Cas client
SNCF Gares & Connexions welcomes 10 million passengers a day across its 3,000 stations. The company centralized seven financial processes in a single tool, Pigment, with MeltOne’s support.
SNCF Gares & Connexions brings together 5,000 employees and 20,000 service providers. Before Pigment, three challenges hindered the company’s financial management.
“The challenge of implementing EPM for Gares et Connexions was to free up useful time for management controllers who, until then, produced a great deal of financial data, so they could reallocate their time to supporting operational teams and creating value.”
Pigment: computing power and user autonomy
SNCF Gares & Connexions was looking for a solution capable of handling a large volume of data. It also needed to manage complex business rules. The company also wanted an ergonomic tool. Users needed to be able to customize their dashboards independently. This three-part requirement—computing power, ease of use, and autonomy—guided the choice of Pigment.
MeltOne: a partner involved from the tender stage
MeltOne has supported SNCF Gares & Connexions since the project launch in October 2024. The collaboration even dates back to the tender process, which spanned ten months. Throughout the program, MeltOne remained agile in the face of unforeseen events. In particular, the team was able to make quick decisions at key moments. The goal: to ensure deliverable quality and keep to the schedule.
The program ran for around two years, in two sub-programs. The first covered the multi-year investment plan, CAPEX tracking, and P&L. The second, carried out over the last nine months, focused on the budget preparation process, via two applications.
MeltOne delivered two workstreams. First, project management, with weekly and monthly tracking. Second, building the applications, co-developed with the finance teams.
Before Pigment, the application landscape was siloed: one process, one tool, one administration team. Today, everything is integrated into a single tool, internally named Link, administered by the Reporting Factory.
The Reporting Factory team is now trained to administer the tool independently, both functionally and technically.
For finance departments facing a fragmented application landscape, this case study is particularly insightful. Successful centralization depends as much on the tool as on change management support.
